Inocencio Prieto y Calvo receives a letter informing him that he is the inheritor of his uncle's two million peso inheritance. Due to his inability to read, he has no idea who sent the letter or what it contains. Therefore, he visits the pharmacy, where the pharmacist can read him the letter. However, while waiting for assistance, he notices that a small girl can read. He concludes that he must be capable of discovering the letter's contents on his own, so he saves the letter, goes to school, and waits to read it on his own.
