Overview
Amin reflects on his history as an Afghan child refugee as he grapples with a secret he has kept concealed for 20 years. A riveting documentary told through a combination of animation and historical video depicts the story of a gay Afghan survivor and his need to confront his past in order to have a true future. Amin came to Denmark from Afghanistan as an unaccompanied teenager. He is now 36 years old, a successful professor, and engaged to his long-time boyfriend. A secret he has kept for nearly two decades threatens to destroy the life he has created for himself. He's telling his story to a close buddy for the first time. FLEE creates an exquisite tapestry of images and memories to convey the deeply moving and unique narrative of a young man fighting with his tragic background in order to rediscover his true self and the meaning of home.
