Nazarn is the priest who abandons his order in order to undertake a journey. As he moves around, surviving on alms, he provides sanctuary for a prostitute wanted for murder. He is cleared of suspicion, and she ultimately meets up with him after escaping incarceration. A third woman joins the pair, and the ex-priest quickly learns more about the human heart and suffering than when he wore robes.
