The Beast and the Beauty (Yasuwa minyeo) is a 2005 South Korean romantic comedy film directed by Park Chan-wook. It centers on voice actor Dong-gun (Ryu Seung-beom), whose blind lover Hae-ju (Shin Min-a) undergoes emergency surgery to regain her vision. After lying to Hae-ju about his appearance, the hideous Dong-gun decides to undergo drastic steps to alter his appearance, promising Hae-ju that he will return soon. Meanwhile, Hae-ju meets Joon-ha (Kim Kang-woo), Dong-high gun's school classmate whose appearance matches Dong-description gun's of himself to Hae-ju, and misidentifies him as Dong-gun. Hilarity ensues, as Dong-gun struggles to maintain his love for the woman he adores.
