In New South Wales, two seemingly unrelated stories occur: a charred, murdered body of a young lady is discovered on the beach, and a retired inspector investigates; and Linda, a waitress and ferry attendant, has multiple lovers and marries one, but continues to see the others. The police have a suspect in the murder, but the former inspector is confident they are mistaken and continues his painstaking inquiry. Linda and her husband divorce, and there are issues. Will the storylines intersect, or are they already intertwined?
